My Favorite Tool

By Celeste Rossmiller

At Sharon Zeugin’s “Illuminating the Dark” (Zoom) workshop in 2021, she suggested using a small-ish nib for our work, and led us through various alphabets and practices.  My first nibs when I was an untrained, self-taught calligrapher were always “Speedball”, and I thought I had “graduated” from them when I began using “Mitchell Round-hand” or “Tape” nibs.  I have, however, rediscovered the usefulness of Speedball nibs, and find myself turning regularly to my C-5 for its versatility.
